Ocean and Estuarine Science Minor

Requirements

To receive the minor, students must successfully complete 20-21 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.0 to include the core courses:

GEOL 101, BIOL 103 (or BIOL 213), and BIOL/GEOL 309; and GEOL/EVPP 363 or BIOL 449.

Students must also take six credits from the following courses (if not as a core course above):

BIOL 449 (3.0 credits), EVPP 490/505 [Marine Conservation] (3.0), EVPP 490/505 [Marine Mammal Biology and Conservation] (3.0), BIOL/EVPP 546 (4.0), GEOL/EVPP 363 (4.0), NCLC 395 [Exploring Underwater Historical Archaeology] (3.0), NCLC 495/BIOL 440 [Coral Reef Ecology] (3.0), or BIOL/EVPP 537.

The scuba diving practical course (PHED 225 (2.0)) is also strongly recommended but is not compulsory.

NB: A minimum of 8 credit hours of the above courses to be taken must be exclusive to the Ocean and Estuarine Science minor and must not be counted towards any major.
